We from Algarve Outdoor Tours have been cycling, kayaking and hiking in the Algarve since 2001. After founder Frank Koopman successfully completed the CIOS, he contributed for years to various outdoor programs in the Belgian Ardennes.
After delivering a sailboat in Vilamoura, the interest in Portugal was born.
About our MTB passion
The passion for mountain biking in 2001 led to the start of downhill biking tours from the highest mountain in the Algarve, the Foia at 902 metres.
Later on the team developed the Trans Algarve, a one week MTB tour. This runs from the Spanish border through the interior to Sagres. This is 350 km of pure mountain bike fun. With 5500 altitude meters a challenge for the experienced mountain biker.
